The Muse

Joan Josephine

It all started at John F Kennedy airport in 1978, with a pair of high waisted When Doves Cry ivory trousers, a Caliente fire blouse, voluminous hair, Lady in Red nails, platform heels, sun kissed skin and an unparalleled zest for life. Yes ladies and gentlemen, that’s Winston's queen and Safiya and Daren's mother, Joan Miller, during her senior year of college living life boldly and colorfully.

Jamaican Lover's Rock

Winston & Joan Josephine Miller

Safiya Jihan & Daren Winston Miller's parents rocking their resort wear trousers for their Honeymoon in Freeport, Bahamas. They are the inspiration of the colorful resort line, SAFIYA JIHAN ™.

Behind a Name

Safiya Jihan

Safiya's Dad, Winston, actually chose her first name, which means clear minded, wise and pure (lots to live up to, lol!); and her Mother Joan chose her middle name Jihan, which was the name of President Sadat’s wife, a complete #bossbabe, and means the world (you see, she was destined to be a wanderlust).

SAFIRINHA

LIFE IN BRAZIL

I consider myself quasi-brasiliera because I had the opportunity to work and live abroad in Sao Paulo, Brazil in 2013 through 2015 as a global expatriate. There I worked at Citi and lived in Jardims. It was the best time of my life personally and professionally. Brazilians work to enjoy life and put family first. It was a refreshing point of view after living in the hustle and bustle of NYC in the height of the financial crisis. Pues, who's Safirinha? Oh, this was the nickname given to me when I lived in Brazil. Saudades demais! They called me Safi and since I loved capirinhas...;-) Beijos!
