Hola friends and family!
I had the honor of representing Microsoft at the Museum of the African Diaspora's (MOAD) annual fundraiser ball where I was finally able to wear black tie in San Francisco (my heart is longing for more reasons to dress up...stay tuned for ways on how we are going to fix that soon!).
I decided to go with a classic color palette of black and white...but with a few creative twists to still make it me :) To balance the classic full A line stripped Badly Mischka skirt [yes this is a not a dress!] I wanted to find a top to spice things up.
Did I say this was not a dress? Well I mean the entire look is not a dress. But I did manage to turn a fun sheer, pearl studded dress from Zara into a top to complete my entire look. Yes - you can find something similar here for less than $40.
Instead of adding the color pop (because there always has to be a color pop!) with my shoes, I decided to opp for color with my earrings since I was wearing a crown braid. I highly suggest a great dangly pair that will help frame and highlight your face. I found these at Neiman Marcus Last Call for $15. Amen.
See you on the dance floor!
Happy Sunday Beautiful people!
I just watched the best clip from Actress Olivia Spencer shared by one of my besties, Jericka (soon to be Dr. Knox) and I knew I needed to share it immediately.
Check it out here!
As Olivia said the journey you take from here on it will be led by you. Don't let that scare you...instead let it liberate you.
Sit on that thought for a few. How does that make you feel? Can you reinvision what you can accomplish?
Life is a mess. This summer has been filled with so many amazing blessings I can't even believe half of them when I sit back and think on it. So although life is a mess...it also encompasses the beauty and pain of this beautiful 🎢 and you get to wake up every day and decide where you want it to take you.
Melanin queen, with high expectations who only knows how to do the most.
